SWANMORE Pre-school staff and pupils celebrated the official opening of a brand new facility for cooking, play and planting.

The Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Richard Izard, cut the ribbon to mark the special occasion alongside one of the parents dressed as Iggle Piggle from the BBC's In the Night Garden.

The 285,000 building, funded by Hampshire County Council, includes a fenced and covered external play area, a plot for children to plant flowers and vegetables and brand-new cooking facilities.

Debbie White, manager of the 'outstanding' rated pre-school, said: 'We are delighted with the hard work put in to the design and implementation of this development which has been tailor-made to ensure that the children's surroundings provide the optimum learning environment for learning through play.'
