Community groups and businesses are gearing up for a big carnival parade.
The Portchester Gala will feature floats designed by schools and pre-schools, Scouts and others aiming to show off their creative talents and win a trophy.
The procession leaves Portchester Community Centre in Westlands Grove at 11am on Saturday, making its way along White Hart Lane and Castle Street to Portchester Castle.
The gala will be officially opened at 12.15pm and prizes will be awarded for the best floats.
Novelty performers, classic cars and marching bands will join in the parade.
The day features a traditional fun fair, local bands and dance groups, including the popular Fareham ‘EveryoneActive’ group, and a gymnastic display from Fareham School of Gymnastics.
Events conclude with a tug-of-war knock-out competition with a half-firkin of beer for the winning team.
Teams of six can register now or on the day.
There is lots for all the family on offer, including sports taster activities from Fareham Leisure Centre and sport trials and smoothie bikes from Sport Hampshire.
