A DERELICT pub has been demolished after a fire closed it last year.

The Chequers Inn in Oving Road, Chichester, was the victim of a blaze in October, but at the time the leaseholders said they hoped to reopen before Christmas because the damage to the public areas was not too severe.

Since then the building has been left abandoned, and has now been demolished – although there is no indication of what the site will be used for.

The blaze, on October 19, damaged a first-floor bedroom and roof and the inside suffered smoke damage.
