PUNTERS have been evacuated from a pub in Gosport after a smoke scare in the building.

Firefighters were called to The White Hart pub in Stoke Road earlier this afternoon after reports of a smoke smell inside.

The entire building was evacuated while fire crews from Gosport, Fareham and Portchester dealt with the incident.

A spokesman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘We were called at 1.57pm this afternoon following reports of the smell of smoke inside the pub.

‘It looks like smoke coming from a light fitting – at that point, the crews from Fareham and Portchester were sent back.

‘Fire safety advice was given to the staff and the pub was handed back over to the owners at 3.30pm.’
