Staff and students from Westover Primary School helped tree wardens, local councillors and Portsmouth City Council Arboriculturalist plant more than 100 native tree whips in the copse near the Geese Enclosure in Tangier Field, Milton.

Two silver birch, two rowan and a hazel, which were donated by Portsmouth South MP Stephen Morgan, were also planted as part of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy (QCC) project which honours HRH's  lifetime of service.

A spokeswoman for the school said: '˜Several large oak and lime trees were also planted to embellish the copse. The QCC is aimed at conserving a network of Commonwealth forests with future generations in mind.

'˜We all look forward to watching the trees grow and thrive.'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'
