Pupils of Sarisbury Church of England Junior School took part in an enterprise week with all proceeds going to the school’s chosen charity of 2016, Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank.

The enterprise week included designing, manufacturing and selling seasonal products at a festive market as well as some of the students producing high quality artwork with a British values theme which were then auctioned at the end of the week.

Headteacher Andrew Stockton, said: ‘It has been a week of fantastic learning and collaboration.

‘We are very proud of the young folks at Sarisbury and we have risen to the challenge superbly.’

Working in mixed age teams, the children developed key enterprise skills including accounting, market research, advertising and branding.

Mr Stockton added: ‘All profits made from the sale of the festive items produced during the week will be donated to the Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank who the school are supporting throughout the year as we further the children’s thinking on going back to basics and being a positive influence in our local community.

‘This was a fantastic and valuable learning opportunity for the children – not only to develop many key enterprise skills vital to learning and the workplace in the future, but also to further develop spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning at Sarisbury, a key aspect of our school’s work.’

Total profits raised from the market and auction came to £2,500 which was presented to the Basics Bank.

Philip Rutt from Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank said ‘I am both amazed and touched by the superb effort of the children and their genuine care and concern for the work the charity undertakes’.
