A tweet by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said power was quickly restored.

A spokeswoman added staff at the substation were those evacuated.

Two fire crews from Cosham attended the fire just after midday, off Southwick Hill Road.

It was quickly put out and the stop call was 12.33pm.

A spokesman from the fire service said: ‘We used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and dry-powered extinguisher to tackle the fire.’
