The group from Gosport was named the winner of the Cop Car Project, which saw them race at Goodwood against other youngsters from Hampshire.

Organised by the Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Hayes and the Royal Navy, the scheme gave children with a record of disruptive behaviour the chance to engage with the police and gain confidence.

After spending 10 weeks working on the Formula 24 car, the teams put them to the test at the Goodwood motor circuit.

Mr Hayes said: ‘I am pleased to see how successful this project was.

‘Young people who get involved are working together as a team, learning new skills, and building their confidence.’
