POLICE have cordoned off a railway footbridge over concerns for a woman’s safety.

They were called at 12.15pm today to the railway footbridge between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue, at the bottom of Eastern Road, Havant.

Paramedics are also at the scene and it is believed officers are talking to the vulnerable woman.

A passerby, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I tried to cross over the bridge but it was all closed off.

‘There are a couple of ambulances there too.

‘Apparently a woman is in distress.’

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said the bridge will be closed until further notice.
