WE ARE really pleased to welcome a special guest to our next concert.
Here at St Mary’s Church in Portchester Castle, we often hold charity concerts, this will be our 20th in just four years.
For our next one, we are excited to welcome Gary Flather OBE QC, who will be accompanied by his dog Mack.
Mack is not just any ordinary dog, Mack is his Canine Partner and helps Gary with daily activities such as getting laundry out of the washing machine.
Gary has multiple sclerosis which has left him wheelchair-bound.
Not only do we have such a special guest, we will also have the delight of hearing Angelic Voices – the boy choristers from The Chapel Choir, St John’s, Southsea.
The choir is back by popular demand to give another concert. The choir is over 40-strong with ages ranging from eight to 18.
Last year the choir sang in the Vatican and at an audience with the Pope.
They have toured 15 times and performed in nearly 40 different cathedrals.
In addition, they have appeared on the BBC’s Songs of Praise.
This year they are touring Europe and singing in eight major cathedrals.
The concert will consist of choral and secular music.
The proceeds will go to Canine Partners who assist people, like Gary, with disabilities to enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life by providing specially trained assistance dogs.
We would love to see you there. The concert starts at 7.30pm on Friday, May 8.
Tickets are available from the church office, email email@example.com or call (023) 9232 1380.
