RAPPER Professor Green will be performing at the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea.
The singer-songwriter will round off the powerboat show being held at Stokes Bay, in Gosport, next month.
The P1 fleet of race boats and jet ski riders will be returning to Gosport after their debut last year and, with Professor Green’s fans there too, a crowd of more than 30,000 is expected across the weekend of July 11 and 12 .
The artist will take to the stage on the Sunday at about 5pm.
Professor Green is known for his number one hit Read All About It featuring Emeli Sande and top five hit Just be Good to Green featuring Lily Allen.
Mark Hook, leader of Gosport Borough Council, said it was great to see the event go from strength to strength.
‘Last year there was a great following not only for the powerboats but for the on-shore entertainment too,’ he said. ‘I am delighted that this year they have got a headline act who is well-known.
‘We were excited when P1 announced they wanted to come back to Gosport and it is great for the town.’
Last year saw thousands of people head to the beach in September to see the finale of the Grand Prix series.
During the two-day event, thousands of people watched 10 P1 Panthers race at up to speeds of 65mph as well as 35 jet-skis. Onshore there were live music, stalls, a barbecue and funfair.

This year’s event will be stage two of the series.
The event is the second of three big events to happen along the Gosport shoreline.
This weekend sees the Gosport Marine Festival which is giving children and families to try new water sports. Gosport will also have a big screen for the America’s Cup event in the Solent.
Cllr Hook added: ‘There are so many great events happening in Gosport both on and off the water.
‘There are a variety of events for everyone with the big one including the P1 event and the marine festival, both of which are free.
‘It is exciting for the town and I do get frustrated when people say there isn’t a lot to do in Gosport.
‘There are around 100 events happening across the town so there is a lot to do.’
The event in Stokes Bay is free but the concert with Professor Green and support acts DJ Santero and Tre Amici is £18. To buy tickets visit ticketmaster.co.uk
