This attractive lake is still here and so are we!

Since then, the LRA’s objectives have been to keep a responsible eye on planned developments and to communicate all types of issues of community interest to our members.

Our current membership is almost 1,200.

Our very popular and well-read magazine is published three times a year and contains articles of local interest – there are no adverts and it’s normally about 52 pages.

Here are some examples of the types of issues we look into:

n Local planning development – Daedalus’s future, Browndown’s development proposals, Maritime & Coastguard Agency updates.

n Transport – Newgate Lane redevelopment, bus services and road closures.

n Local planning issues aimed at preserving the current Lee-on-the-Solent ethos.

We give our residents health updates regarding NHS services and any proposed changes affecting Lee.

We have an annual social evening in November with wine and a finger buffet.

Alver Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team visits whenever it can.

It is easy to join LRA.

You can pick up an application form at either Lee Bookshop in High Street or at the contact point in Tesco Express on Pier Street.

A year’s membership costs only £3 per person or £5 per couple living at the same address.

Membership is open to everyone living in or interested in the Lee-on-the-Solent wards of Gosport Borough Council. They are allowed ordinary membership.

Borough or county councillors representing the Lee wards, irrespective of place of residence, can obtain councillor membership.

Owners, partners or senior employees of businesses and senior employees of other organisations which are located in Lee-on-the-Solent, and where the individual spends the majority of their working time in Lee-on-the-Solent can become business members.
