Rescuers tow 40ft sailing yacht to safety after engine failure

SMALL electrical items that are no longer needed can be recycled at as part of National Recycling Week.

Havant Borough Council has teamed up with Weeecare to set up drop-off points for items such as kettles, mobile phones, sandwich toasters or games consoles – anything with a plug or batteries.

It is happening on Monday at Emsworth Community Centre, Church Path, Hayling Island Community Centre, Station Road, Leigh Park Community Centre, Dunsbury Way, Waterlooville Community Centre, Maurepas Way, and Wecock Community Centre, The Kestrals, Wecock Farm.

On Saturday, June 22, between 10am and 2pm residents can drop off recycling at The Plaza Car Park, Civic Centre Road, Havant.

They will be given the chance to enter a competition where they can win gadgets such as Kindles and Mini iPads.

The recycling points will not accept televisions or monitors.
