PEOPLE in Gosport are being reminded their bins will be collected a day later than usual during the festive holidays.

Collection crews will collect rubbish and recycling a day later than usual.

And Gosport Borough Council is also offering a free service to collect and compost people’s real Christmas trees.

A council spokeswoman said: ‘With all the rushing around before, and all the fun and laughter over Christmas, it’s so easy to forget the little things, so please don’t forget to put your bin out.

‘For many of you things won’t change, but due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day bank holidays, collection crews will collect some household waste and recycling bins a day late this year.’

People who have real Christmas trees to dispose of after the festivities can have them collected by the council for free.

They should be left outside on the boundary of your property before 7am on the day of your garden waste collection day without any decorations and in one piece.

The trees will then be sent for composting.
