A CRASH has renewed calls for something to be done about an accident blackspot.

A van and a car collided at the junction of Heritage Way and Grove Road in Gosport yesterday.

The male driver of a Vauxhall Meriva car was treated for minor injuries and shock, while the driver of a white Vauxhall Movano van was unhurt. The car hit a metal fence, a nearby resident said.

The man, who asked not to be named, said: ‘It’s the latest in a number of accidents at those traffic lights.

‘The car veered off and smashed into a metal fence.

‘I was on the way home on the bus and the bus had to be diverted.’

He wants Grove Road to be shut at the junction, creating a Grove Road North and South.

It happened at 1.50pm and the area was closed to traffic, a Hampshire police spokesman said. Some oil was spilt.
