A WORLD-FAMOUS pianist will perform at a concert to raise money for disaster relief efforts in Japan.

Motoki Hirai will perform works by Mozart, Chopin and Liszt at a church hall to raise money for the Japan Society’s Tohoku earthquake relief fund.

The concert takes place at St Peter’s Church in Petersfield on April 21 from 7.30pm.

Wendy Arnold, from the society, said: ‘Because all our members feel deeply about Japan we were all shocked by the terrible tsunami and the aftermath just over a year ago.

‘Now the first anniversary of this has passed, we wanted to send a message to the people out there that they are not forgotten.’

Tickets costing £10 or £8 for students can be bought from One Tree Books in Petersfield or from Wendy on 01730 266992.

People with tickets will be entered into a raffle.
