Rescue charity boosted by £8k funding windfall

THE coffers of a life-saving charity have been boosted to the tune of £8,000.

Hampshire Search and Rescue was presented the windfall by the government.

The group offers lowland rescue services specialising in rivers and at sea.

The £8,000 will allow the team to buy new equipment or replace essential kit.

It can be used to support the rescue organisation’s services across Hampshire’s inland waterways.

Hampshire Search and Rescue was one of 62 charities to have been bolstered by the new waves of funding support, worth about £1m in total.

Bids were judged by a panel from the Department of Transport, supported by other government bodies.
