THE streets and open spaces of a village have been given a spring clean.
Nineteen people rolled up their sleeves for a massive litter pick in Purbrook.
A staggering 51 bags of rubbish were collected, as well as other waste that would not fit into the bags.
The day was organised by Purbrook and Widley Area Residents’ Association.
Chairman Gary Hughes said: ‘It was a true community event. Havant Borough Council provided the litter-pickers, waste sacks and gloves. The Purbrook Village Bakery and Cafe opened their doors especially for us and served up full English breakfasts for all participants. Many of the breakfasts were paid for by Purbrook businesses who were invited to buy a breakfast for a volunteer.’
