Havant’s MP has launched a series of meet-and-greet sessions to have an informal discussion with residents in his constituency.

Alan Mak plans to hold these meetings at a range of different venues across the area, to hear everyone’s issues, either on a local or national level.

The events are designed so that residents can air their views in a relaxed environment about how the community is being run. Having been in the job for four months, Mr Mak has received a number of requests from people living in his constituency to meet in an informal setting.

The MP said he knows people living in the area may not have any particular issues – they just want to have a chat about the running of their town.

He said: ‘I enjoy meeting local residents and hearing their views on local and national issues.

‘These new meet-and-greet events allow me to engage with residents in a relaxed and informal setting.’

The first of these free events will take place tomorrow – Friday, September 18 – at the Wheelwright’s Arms pub, in Emsworth Road, at 5.30pm. When Mr Mak was on his election campaign trail, he arranged similar meetings so he could get a better understanding of what the people of Havant wanted from their MP.

Mr Mak now wants to hear back from those people who put him into power, finding out what more he can do for them.

‘I organised similar events during the election campaign and I’m keen to stay accessible and in touch with local residents now I’m their MP,’ added Mr Mak.

‘I like to think that the residents who live in my constituency feel they can come to me for anything which is worrying them about what is happening in Havant.’

In the four months Mr Mak has been Havant’s MP he has made sure he is a visible MP who is doing what is best for his community.

Mr Mak has already organised lots of meet-and-greets until December.
