Residents show their support for Waterlooville firefighters at open day
RESIDENTS flocked to Waterlooville Fire Station on Saturday to get a taste of the life of a firefighter during a station open day.
Families took part in a raffle, funfair and got the chance to have a go using the station’s hose reels as well as having a free roam around the station’s appliances.
Part-time firefighters from the station and the nearby Horndean station were on hand to offer information about their role and the day was considered ‘a big success’ by organiser Richard Tucker.
The firefighter, who’s based at Horndean said: ‘The whole station has been packed by people all day so for us, we feel it’s been a big success.
‘It’s great to see so many faces head down, come and see us and support their local firefighters.
The event raised £581.37 for the Firefighters Charity.
Mr Tucker added: ‘We didn’t expect this reaction so a big thanks to all who came.’
