FIREFIGHTERS are reminding people not to break fire alarm boxes unless there’s an emergency.

The message comes after Southsea fire station were alerted to what they thought was an emergency at Harley Court, in Common Street, Landport, Portsmouth, at 1.15pm on Monday.

When crews arrived they realised someone had smashed a fire alarm on a wall at the block of flats for no reason.

Crew manager Sid Grant said: ‘It’s a waste of our time and resources.

‘If there is a fire then you should break an alarm to alert everyone.’
