PARKING restrictions are set to be introduced on residential roads over fears that parked cars could stop emergency vehicles getting through.

Leaders at Havant Borough Council are considering yellow lines on parts of Aldermoor Road East, Newlands Road, Bursledon Road, Bursledon Place and Dayslondon Road in Purbrook.

A council report said: ‘Daily during school term-time, vehicles are parking on the southern side of Aldermoor Road East access road which is a narrow access leading up to Purbrook Infant School and Purbrook Junior School.

‘In 2013, the school reported that an ambulance was unable to access the school due to cars blocking the entrance in Aldermoor Road East.

‘Local residents, the schools and the police have reported that obstructive parking takes place at school drop-off and pick-up times in the roads surrounding the schools.’

Meanwhile, councillors are also considering yellow lines at the junction of Heather Close and Springwood Avenue, in Stakes, Waterlooville, because of safety concerns.
