DO YOU fancy yourself as the dinner party king or queen?

The Rowans Hospice is inviting people to celebrate the festive season by hosting a Come Dine With Us-style event to help raise money for its Dorothy’s Dream appeal.

Those interested in taking part can hold a dinner party at any time or place and get creative with a theme.

But all most have one thing in common – to raise as much money for the Dorothy’s Dream appeal.

The scheme aims to provide a service to support people who wish to spend their last days in their own homes.

Ann Cooper, head of fundraising and marketing for the hospice, said: ‘It has been overwhelming to see the public’s response to the Dorothy’s Dream appeal, both financially and emotionally.

‘But we do need the public to continue fundraising to ensure the service can meet the needs of people living with life-limiting illness in Portsmouth and south-east Hampshire.’

Since September last year the hospice, based in Purbrook, has raised more than £750,000 for the Dorothy’s Dream appeal.

In all £1 million is needed to fund the home hospice service for the first two years.

Last year scores of people tucked into the Come Dine With Us fundraiser. They included customers at the Shalimar Indian Restaurant, Hambledon Road, Waterlooville, which raised £4,000, with a Bollywood-themed evening.
