Royal Navy warship saves 7,000 migrants in the Mediterranean

A ROYAL Navy ship has helped rescue 7,000 migrants in the Mediterranean.

HMS Enterprise was deployed in June 2015 to save refugees and migrants making the deadly crossing from Libya to Italy.

Now, defence secretary Michael Fallon has revealed the Devonport-based ship has saved thousands of lives.

Speaking while in Cyprus, the former minister for Portsmouth said: ‘In a single year, HMS Enterprise has rescued over 7,000 migrants.’
