Well-known for rehoming animals that have been put into their care, the Ark started the fostering scheme in 2015.

People living in Portsmouth, Fareham or Southampton can register to provide a temporary foster home for dogs or cats until a permanent home is found for them.

Pamela and Amelia Beards, who are registered on their foster scheme, welcomed Daisy into their home to live alongside their own dog, Woody, for three months until she was recently placed into a permanent loving home.

Pamela said: ‘This is one of the most rewarding things we
as a family have ever done.

‘Daisy was great fun and we will miss her but we are so happy for her’.
