BIN collections in a town have been affected after refuse lorry crashed, a council has said.
The lorry, operated by refuse contractor Urbaser Ltd, was contracted by Gosport Borough Council.
Now borough council deputy leader Councillor Graham Burgess has said collections in Lee-on-the-Solent have been affected.
In a statement he said: ‘We are aware of an incident that occurred on the eastbound carriageway of the M27 at around 11am this morning in which a Gosport Borough Council refuse vehicle overturned.
‘We will be working closely with the refuse contractors, Urbaser Ltd, to look into the causes of the incident.
‘Collections in the Lee-on-Solent area are affected by this incident.
‘We want to minimise delays, so our teams will work as late as possible this evening to make collections. If your bins have not been collected by this evening, leave them out and they will be collected as soon as possible.
‘We will keep residents informed via social media and the council website.’
Two people were taken to hospital after the bin lorry jack-knifed and overturned.
