THERE is still time to sign up for one of the area’s most popular charity bike rides.

It starts at 11am tomorrow from the Harvest Home pub, Denmead, and hundreds of cyclists are expected to make the most of the predicted good weather by taking part.

There are three routes to choose from – 10 miles, 20 miles and 30 miles.

All ages are welcome to take part and all the money raised from the event will go to two local good causes.

The first is The Roberts Centre for homeless families and children, which is based in Portsmouth.

The second is Denmead Communicare which provides transport for older people in the area.

After the cyclists have set off the entertainment starts at the pub.

Chrissie Hicks, the assistant manager, said: ‘It’s going to be a great day.

‘The cyclists will be sent on their way by the junior section of Denmead Brass Band.

‘From midday to 3pm we will have childrens karaoke.

‘We’ve got three great bands – Fay Wray, the Symbolics and Mambo Sons in the evening.

‘The barbecue will be going all day and everyone is welcome.

‘We would love to see as many people as possible so that we can have a go at raising lots of money.’

Miss Hicks said she would like to thank Denmead residents for helping out by providing tables and chairs for the event.
