Sailor taken to hospital with head injury after winch accident at Lee-on-the-Solent

The man, whose age is not known, was hurt by a winch at Lee-on-the-Solent and his vessel eventually had to be recovered by coastal rescuers. 

Hill Head Coastguard Rescue Team and the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service were called out to the incident at 1.21pm.

The man was assessed at the scene but it was decided he should be taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service. 

A spokeswoman for the Solent coastguard said his boat was taken to a ‘place of safety’ by rescuers. 

The man’s condition is unknown.
