TWO inspirational sailors will be carrying the torch over the next few days.

Disabled sailor Geoff Holt, from Shedfield, will have the honour as it passes through Swanage, Dorset, on Friday.

Mr Holt was chosen after completing challenges in recent years such as becoming the first quadriplegic to sail unassisted across the Atlantic which won him the title of 2010 Yachtsman of the Year and an MBE.

Young sailor Lauren Harris will be carrying the flame through Bournemouth on the same day. She was chosen for giving up her time to teach underprivileged youngsters how to sail as part of the Lively Lady project, Around and Around. She’s helping to raise money to get the Lively Lady back up to scratch and take young people around the world in a series of legs.

Anton James, 44, from Fareham, will take the torch in Swanage for his fundraising efforts. He’s raised thousands for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis by doing the London Marathon and Great South Run.
