A FAREHAM supermarket has reopened after being closed by police.

Sainsbury’s Broadcut was forced to close on Thursday at 2.30pm as police feared that shoppers would become stranded in the car park by rising flood water.

The River Wallington was at its highest at 4.32pm Thursday and at 5.02am Friday.

The river has now receded, making it possible to reach Sainsbury’s safely.

A spokesman from the store said: ‘Although it was inconvenient for our customers, we really feel for the people of Wallington who were flooded.’
