School holds open day to celebrate grounds

THE great outdoors will be celebrated at an event this weekend.

Wicor Primary School in Portchester is holding a celebration after winning two national awards for its grounds.

The school will be opening its grounds on Saturday from 10am until 4pm for a food and garden event.

There will be representatives from Rick Stein, World Wildlife Fund and Alpro giving cooking demonstrations. Hill Farm Juicers and Orchards will have an apple press and Chelsea Flower Show gold-winning Andy McIndoe will give gardening demonstrations. Chris Bird from the RHS and Plant Heritage will be there.

Entry is free, however BBC Radio Solent will be holding Gardeners’ Question Time at 1pm for which tickets cost £5, available by calling 01329 237412.
