A SCOUT group has been collecting clothes to donate to the Philippines.

The 64th Portsmouth Scout Group has been busy collecting T-shirts and shorts to send out to the children of the Philippines.

The group recently opened its new scout hut and it was one of its biggest supporters, Andy Feathstonhaugh, who suggested making the donations.

Andy now lives in the Philippines and was one of many thousands affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Stephen Bradbury, chairman of the Scout group, said: ‘After the typhoon hit, it took four days before I could get any contact with Andy.

‘Thankfully he and his family are safe but many of his friends and other family members have lost their homes and possessions.

‘He is currently helping in the task of delivering food and water to the worst-hit areas of Cebu.

‘We were giving donations to kids out there before the typhoon but now we are stepping up our efforts to get even more donations.’
