TWELVE youngsters enjoyed a day out on the water to mark the end of a six-week project.

A dozen Scouts completed their Paddle Power Passport award which teaches them safety awareness, paddling skills and supported knowledge while out on the water.

The six-week scheme, which was run for the first time this year, was organised by the Portsmouth Scouts’ Water Activities Centre.

Solomon Sanderson, 13, from the 54th Great Salterns group, said: ‘The Paddle Power Passport was really enjoyable and it was great fun.

‘It’s given me confidence and I can’t wait to return to the water soon.’

Clara Adams, 13, from the 23rd Stamshaw group, added: ‘I just did not want the course to finish. I have learnt a great deal of water techniques and kayak skills.’
