Search for Portsmouth maternity home picture edges a little closer

We're getting closer, but still no cigar in the great hunt for a photograph of Eddystone Maternity Home.

It all started when Matt Tozer wrote to me asking if readers could help with a picture of the building at 24 Festing Road, Southsea. He was born there in 1965.

Several others contacted me to say they too would like to see photos of the building as they were born there.

Now Patricia Bryant, of Solent Road, Drayton, Portsmouth, has weighed in with the picture on the right.

It was taken at the entrance to the building and shows Matron Scott holding Patricia’s son Mark as they left to go home.
