PEOPLE wanting to make donations to a local charity can now donate via text message.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has launched its own text donation line specifically for Hampshire.

To donate people need to text the word HANTS followed by the amount in whole pounds that they wish to donate, to 70500.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance relies on the generosity of donors to raise the £125,000 needed each month to keep the air ambulance flying.

John Perry, chief executive of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said: ‘This is a brilliant way for people to donate to our charity through their mobile phones.

‘Everyone has their phone on them most of the time and can therefore instantly donate while out and about.

‘We receive no government funding for operational purpose, relying entirely on the generosity of the people and businesses of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to maintain the service.’

Donations will be paid from the mobile phone account and the billpayer’s permission is needed. The whole amount goes to the charity.
