Serious crash causes traffic chaos around Goodwood Festival of Speed

A motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries in a major crash on the approach to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, near Chichester, this morning.

The collision happened just before 6am on Saturday, June 25, and is causing significant traffic jams in the whole area, stretching back from Goodwood to the A27 and beyond.

According to police, a motorcyclist and a vehicle were in collision on Kennel Hill, just north of the Kennels and close to Gate 4 - one of the main entrances to this weekend’s Festival of Speed at Goodwood.

The motorcyclist is reported to have sustained serious injuries. Paramedics and other emergency services are understood to still be at the scene.

Marshals are assisting police with local road closures, including Pook Lane and Chalk Pit Lane.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible and to show patience if they are caught in the jams.
