CHILDREN and their families watched as sheep were goven a trim for the summer
Every year sheep at the farm at Havant’s Staunton Country Park are sheared by a professional so they do not overheat.
Around 60 sheep of various breeds had their woollen coats shaved off by professional shearer Susie Parish in the main barn.
Parents and their youngsters looked on with interest at the process, which lasted all day.
Education and community manager Gemma Summerfield said: ‘It’s nice for people to have the opportunity to see how a farm works.
‘Our lambing event at Easter is hugely popular so it was also a chance for people to see them after they’ve been born.
‘And then next year the lambs will be having their coats sheared.’
The wool filled up two industrial bags’ worth.
It was then collected by the British Wool Marketing Board, ready to be sold at market, with the money going back to the farm.
