‘Concern’ as girl, 16, missing from Fareham

SHOPPERS were alarmed this morning after an Ikea megastore was evacuated.

The store in West Quay Road, Southampton was cleared just after 11am following a ‘technical issue’.

Customers were allowed to re-enter the store 15 minutes after the initial evacuation and had taken to social media to voice their frustration.

A spokesman for Ikea said: ‘We can confirm that the IKEA Southampton store was evacuated today, after a technical issue.

‘The safety of our customers and co-workers is always the highest priority for Ikea.

‘Following a swift evacuation, customers were invited back into the store.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.’
