MORE than £1,000 has been raised from street collections during a national aid week.

During Christian Aid Week, which took place last month, the Christian Aid group in Fareham and Portchester took to the streets and held a series of collections in Fareham Shopping Centre and Portchester precinct.

The total amount raised in these collections was £1,100.37.

The charity has thanked the volunteers who gave their time to the events, and the shoppers and residents who donated.

The week saw people across the country raise funds for the developing world.
