Robert Pragnell captured the spirit of the town by perfectly framing an image of the Royal Oak pub and Langstone Mill.

The snap so impressed staff that it was chosen to feature on thousands of the festive greetings cards being sold in the Solent Retail Park store, in Havant, in the lead-up to Christmas to mark the opening of the enw shop.

Mr Pragnell was one of dozens of amateur photographers who submitted photographs of their favourite scenes across Havant.

Store manager Lincoln Ashley said: ‘To help celebrate the arrival of M&S Havant we wanted to know what residents love most about their town.

‘We received a huge amount of photos highlighting the vibrant personality of Havant and how passionate the local community are about their area.

‘Robert photographed the town’s harbour pub, along with featuring Langstone’s historic former mill.

‘The final shot is now proudly presented on a greetings card in our store.’

Robert received a mounted and framed copy of his photo as part of the competition prize.

He said: ‘It was great to have won the competition and see my photo being sold in-store. My family and friends have all bought a copy. M&S made a real effort in getting the local community involved in the opening of the store and it was a real pleasure to be a part of.’
