Sikh new year will be marked at temple

PEOPLE are being invited to join the annual celebrations at a Sikh temple.

About 200 members of the Portsmouth Sikh Community Temple, in Margate Road, Southsea, will be marking Vaisakhi – the Sikh new year – on Sunday. There will be events at the temple from 10am with the raising of the Nishan Sahib – a Sikh triangular flag – at 11.30am.

Khalsa Singh, vice president, said all are welcome at the day, which will see music, food and refreshments.

He said: ‘It is open for everybody, regardless of their race, creed or denomination.’
