SMOKE from a kiln set off alarms at a school.

The caretaker of Oaklands Catholic School, in Waterlooville, alerted firefighters at 7pm last night.

The crew, from Cosham, used specialist extractor fans to get rid of the smoke.

It is not known why the kiln began smoking as there was no-one in the building at the time.
