Snow? Pah! Why heavy showers aren't going to stop this farmer doing his job

THE snow may have caused many to stay at home, but for a Titchfield farmer it is just another obstacle to overcome.

Hollam Hill, in Titchfield, is one of the many farms across the area that won’t let the snow stop them from caring for the animals and running their farm shop.

Farmer Richard Small said: ‘It’s very pretty but it’s difficult keeping all the animals healthy and happy.

‘They look at the snow and wonder where all the grass has gone!

‘There is fewer customers but who could blame them!’

The farm has an array of goats, cows, chickens and horses which the team have been working to keep to the animals warm by mixing hot water into the buckets to make sure the animals’ water stays clear of ice, and putting up extra barriers to keep snow from entering the barn.

Richard said: ‘Lots of hay and straw are used, but it’s worth it to see them well fed and content.’
