TWO women who had been trapped in a lift were rescued by firefighters from Southsea this morning.

The pair had been in the lift when it malfunctioned between the third and fourth floor of Finchdean House, in Milton Road, Copnor.

The women were locked in the lift for almost an hour before firefighters were eventually called, shortly after 11.30am.

Two crews from Southsea attended the scene and took about 15 minutes to free the women, one of whom had mobility issues.

Crews returned back to their base just before midday.
