SOUTHSEA’S new Rural and Seaside Show has been hailed a success.

As previously reported in The News, families enjoyed Punch and Judy and racing ferrets while tucking into ice creams and fish and chips during the bank holiday weekend event. It was organised by Portsmouth City Council to celebrate everything about the seaside.

Councillor Lee Hunt, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said, ‘I’ve received many emails praising our new show and the organisation, staff and traders went the extra mile to help the event to be such a success. I tried almost everything including archery, local whelks and Portsmouth brewed ale – it was all great fun.’

Highlights included a heavy horse parade and a virtual village which included a mobile vintage hairdressing salon.
