THE Gosport Ferry is running a cruise for passengers to get the best viewpoint for watching a weekend of jet ski and powerboat displays in Stokes Bay next month.
Powerboat P1 announced the new partnership with the ferry company ahead of the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea.
P1’s double bill of powerboat and jet ski racing on July 11 and 12 will feature world and national jet ski freestyle champions Lee Stone and Jason Bleasdale.
They will entertain the crowds on the beach with a high-speed, high-energy freestyle routine, complete with back flips and barrel rolls.
And the Gosport Ferry says that the best place to enjoy the breath-taking displays, as well as the race action, will be on board one of its vessels as it cruises the waters off Stokes Bay on the second day of the event.
Stone, 24, is the current pro freestyle world champion and holds the record for the most back flips in one attempt.
Bleasdale, a former British champion stock car racer, is a relative newcomer to the sport, but his meteoric rise through the ranks has already seen him win four British freestyle titles.
Gosport Ferry finance director Chris Waters said: ‘As a key transport link between the two communities of Portsmouth and Gosport, we are proud to be supporting the Grand Prix of the Sea that was such a success last year on its first visit to Gosport.
‘Our cruise from Gosport around to Stokes Bay, where we will lay anchor just off the race course, will provide an unparalleled vantage point for the public to watch the jet ski freestyle stunts and P1 racing.’
The cruise will depart from the pontoon at Gosport at 11.15am on the Sunday and return at 5pm, with pre-ordered meals available on board.
The package price of £18.50 per head includes one free child ticket with every adult ticket purchased.
