BUYING a new car can be difficult and often involves having to visit different dealerships to find the right one.
But families got the chance to see lots of different models with the latest registration plate all in one place at The News Motor Show, which was visited by local Porsche racer Rebecca Jackson.
The rain didn’t stop people coming along to the event at Port Solent over the weekend.
Visitors rode a Segway and raced their friends in go-karts. Children were able to go on donkey rides and got through an inflatable assault course.
There was a simulator where people could get in a Formula One car and get a feel for what it’s like to race one around a track.
Formula One’s new British motor racing driver Max Chilton, who drives for Marussia, and Porsche Boxster racer Rebecca Jackson, from Horndean, showed up.
A car was also up for grabs in a competition run by Jack FM and Sparshatts.
Terry Gautrey, 70, and his son Nathan Gautrey, 31, of Portchester, went along and had a good time.
‘We just thought we’d have a look around,’ Terry said. ‘It’s been nice. There’s a lot to do and quite a few cars.’
Organiser Sara Allerton said: ‘Considering the weather we’ve had it’s been very steady.
‘This was a chance to bring out the whole family.’
