PORTSMOUTH’S Spinnaker Tower has come out on top against some of its fellow world-class towers, including the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower.

The tower staff were given an award at the World Federation of Great Towers conference in Berlin.

The annual event sees 41 towers across the globe meet to recognise success amongst its members, who together welcome over 40 million visitors each year.

Sarah Webb, general manager of Spinnaker Tower, said the award ‘reflects the dedication it gives to training its team to the highest standards’.

She added: ‘I’m delighted that the Spinnaker Tower has been recognised for its high quality training programmes.

‘Towering above such greats as the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower is a huge achievement and provides testament to the hard work of our talented team.’
