Spitfire flypasts planned for this weekend

Two Spitfire flypasts are planned for Hampshire this weekend.

Both will take place on Saturday, weather permitting.

In the first, two of the Second World War fighter planes will circle Mayflower Park in Southampton at around 4pm.

The salute has been organised to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the prototype Supermarine Spitfire from what is now Southampton Aiport.

And airport officials have announced a second Spitfire flypast in Southampton on Saturday. Planes are scheduled to roar over Southampton Water at lunchtime.
