THE mighty sun will come into focus this weekend for a solar observation day.

People are invited to the free event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Clanfield.

The event has been organised by HantsAstro and people will be able to use telescopes with filters that allow the human eye to safely look at the sun.

Sharon Rose, from the group, said: ‘Local solar experts from HantsAstro will be on hand to show what the sun has to offer including sun spots and flares.

‘You should never use any equipment to observe the sun unless it has been correctly modified to do so.

‘HantsAstro is now the largest astronomy observing group in southern England. They observe at Butser Ancient Farm throughout the year.’

The event takes place from 11am to 6pm on Sunday. For more information see
